WEEK #3: Northeast Region High School Rankings

Lakeland High School maintains the #1 spot in this week’s Northeast Region Rankings after knocking off the top-ranked Connecticut team and then #3 ranked Wilton 3-1 on Saturday.  Wilton drops down to the #7 spot and Section II Shenendehowa gets the nod up to the #3 spot after a strong 3-0 week and knocking off then #13 ranked Saratoga Springs 2-0 on Monday.  Previously unranked Scarsdale gets a huge introduction to the Top 20, coming in for the first time at the #10 spot.  Scarsdale sits at 9-1 and suffered their only loss of the season to #1 Lakeland by a score of 3-1.  They knocked off the 2-time defending Class A State Champions Mamaroneck 4-0 earlier in the season.  We will see just how good they are this Friday when they play #13 Rye.

Staples (CT) moves up to the #4 spot this week as the top Connecticut team with a 7-0 record.  They will face their first real test on Friday when they meet #7 Wilton.  The Regional Team of the Week Whitney Point (NY) also got a big bump this week, up 4 spots to the #5 ranking.  Darien (CT) falls right behind them at the #6 spot.  North Kingstown (RI) came out on top of all Rhode Island teams this week, beating then #15 ranked Moses Brown 4-2.  They move up to the #15 spot and Moses Brown falls to the #20 spot.

Newcomers to this week’s Top 20 rankings include #10 Scarsdale (NY), #16 Carle Place (NY), and Barrington (RI) re-enters the rankings at the #17 spot.
