FIELD HOCKEY QUICK FACTS

Head Coach: Jeanne Frevola
Conference: NYS Class A, Section II, Suburban Council
Mascot: Plainsmen
Plainsmen on Twitter: @shenathletics
2018 Record: 16-3-0
2018 Schedule: -View Schedule-
2018 Final Ranking: Northeast Region “Others Considered”
2018 Accomplishments: Section II Class A Runner-Up
2018 Notables: Lost to eventual NYS Class A State Champions Maine-Endwell 2-1 in OT in late October
2019 Outlook: Shen graduates 5 from what Head Coach Jeanne Frevola notes was her youngest starting Varsity squad in her 20 year tenure at Shen.  Among that graduating senior class are Olivia Howard (All-State, Quinnipiac commit), Meghana Caron (Ithaca commit), Jess Wolfe (Pace commit), Maddy Dunn (LIU commit), and Carolyn Koziol (Colby Sawyer commit).  Rising senior GK Abby Danson (First Team All-Region, Ohio State commit) will return as a leader in cage for a team that has made it to the Section II final every year since 2010, capturing NYS Class A State Championships in 2013 & 2016.  Rachel Sterle (2021, All-Times Union Second Team) and Grace Dechiro (2020, Providence commit) are also among key returners for a squad that started 3 freshman and 2 sophomores last Fall.  We expect them to be a strong favorite out of Section II.
