2018 Notables: Eastern captured their 20th straight state title and defeated 5 State Champions: Wyoming Seminary (PA 1A State Champs), Sacred Heart Academy (Kentucky State Champs), and in-state champs Oak Knoll School (Non-Public), West Essex (Group 2), and Moorestown (Group 3). Â
2019 Outlook: Don’t expect anything less from for the reigning national champions again next Fall. All-American sisters Kara Heck (2020, Top 10 Player, Boston College) and Ryleigh Heck (2022, Top 3 Player) lead the charge for a squad that returns talent at every class and position. The Hecks combined for a total of 86 goals, 52 assists and 224 points in 2018 with Ryleigh leading the state in goals with 44 as just a freshman. The rising senior class that joins Kara Heck includes GK Nina Santore (All-Region/All-State, Quinnipiac), Tara Somers (All-Region/All-State, St. Joseph’s), Amanda Middleman (All-State, Villanova), Elise Pettisani (Rutgers), Theresa Schmus (Vermont), Kylie Zielinski (All-Group 4, Watch List Player Ranking), Kendall Jung (Watch List Player Ranking). And thats not even mentioning their younger talent. Another powerhouse season ahead for Eastern.
Over the next couple of months MAX Field Hockey will be releasing special features on teams that will be competing in the MAX Field Hockey High School National Invitational at The Proving Grounds, September 20-22, 2019. We are still accepting registrations for teams automatically qualified and applications for additional teams interested in participating!
