2018 Accomplishments:Â Gateway Tournament A Pool winner, Kentucky State Semi-Finalist
2018 Notables: Played one of the toughest schedules in the West/Mid-West Region. 18 of their 28 games were against teams ranked in the final West/Mid-West and Mid-Atlantic Region Rankings. They finished 8-7-2 in those games, with their biggest win being over Virginia Beach powerhouse and #24 nationally ranked First Colonial. The Rockets also beat Saint Louis champ #10 Villa Duchesne twice, runner-up #16 MICDS, and tied Illinois State runner-up #8 Lake Forest.
2019 Outlook:Â Last year was a rebuilding year for the Rockets, who returned only 3 starters for the 2018 season. 2019 still sees a young group of Rockets (3 freshmen started the semifinal game of the state tournament), but they are anchored by US U17 National team member and Wake Forest signee Lee Ann Gordon, Ohio State signee Zoe Snook and Boston College signee Emily Gillespie. They should be very competitive in the West Mid-West Region this year.
Over the next couple of months MAX Field Hockey will be releasing special features on teams that will be competing in the MAX Field Hockey High School National Invitational at The Proving Grounds, September 20-22, 2019. We are still accepting registrations for teams automatically qualified and applications for additional teams interested in participating!
