We have some incredibly strong Virginia squads this season!  First Colonial (Virginia Beach, VA) earns the top spot as the 6A favorite, followed by Norfolk Academy (Norfolk, VA) at #2 as the VISAA Division I heavy favorite.  Both squads are absolutely stacked with talented Division I commits and Top 100 ranked players.  First Colonial is looking to once again be one of the top teams in the country, as is Norfolk Academy who has two of our Top 10 seniors in Riley Fulmer (UNC commit) and Greer Gill (Virginia commit).  #3 Westfield (Westfield, VA) is also looking to be very strong as they sit at 8-0 after earning Head Coach Starr Karl her 400th win last week.  #4 Great Bridge (Chesapeake, VA) is coming off of a 22-0 State Championship season with the reigning Mid-Atlantic Region Player of the Year Peyton Tollaksen (Virginia commit) back for her senior year.

MAX Field Hockey’s Preseason High School Rankings are based heavily on the previous Fall’s Final Rankings and team performances.  As much as possible, seniors graduated and key returning players are taken into consideration, but complete information is not always available for each program.  Historic dominance and success at the highest level and in the postseason are a major factor.  MAX Field Hockey’s general ranking philosophy: you must prove it on the field and beat the best and ranked teams to move onto and up the rankings!
