Lakeland High School (Shrub Oak, New York) claims the #1 spot in the Final Northeast Region Rankings for the 2017 High School Field Hockey season.  The Hornets finished a perfect 22-0-0 season as the New York State Class B State Champions and Section I Class B Champions.  Outscoring opponents 140-5 and registering 18 shutouts throughout the season, Lakeland continue their streak of not losing to a New York opponent since 2008.  The 2017 State Championship was Head Coach Sharon Sarsen and the Hornet’s 9th straight title.  That 9th straight title came in a 5-0 shutout of Vestal in the championship game behind a hat trick by junior Julianna Cappello.  This Lakeland squad lost a lot of talent last year, but a balance of senior leadership and younger talent once again brought Sarsen’s squad to familiar State Championship territory and the top of our Northeast Region Rankings.

In addition to our Final Top 20 Rankings, we also wanted to recognize the state and major conference champions from the Northeast Region.

Congratulations to the following 2017 Northeast Region State/Conference Champions!
