In what proved to be the most exciting weekend of college hockey yet, two #1’s were knocked off in rematches of the 2015 Division I & III National Championship title games.  #5 North Carolina defeated #1 Syracuse in Chapel Hill Friday night 3-2 in double overtime and #3 Middlebury defeated #1 Bowdoin 3-2 on Saturday afternoon.


DIVISION I

Among the weekend’s top Division I performers– 1) Northwestern- defeated #4 Penn State on Friday, 5-3, and then returned to the field on Sunday to defeat #6 Maryland, 3-2 in double OT, and 2) North Carolina- knocked off the #1 Syracuse Friday, and then defeated #2 Duke 3-2 on Sunday.

DIVISION II

The Division II weekend was highlighted by the top teams showing their dominance.  In the two Top 10 match-ups, #1 East Stroudsburg defeated #6 Kutztown 2-0 and #2 LIU Post  defeated #5 Stonehill 3-0.  All other Top 10 competitors won their weekend games, no upsets.

DIVISION III

Defending National Champions Middlebury had a challenging back-to-back weekend.  The Panthers got a big win over #1 Bowdoin 3-2 on Saturday, a rematch of the 2015 championship game, but then returned to the field on Sunday, where unranked Hamilton defeated them 4-2.
